Wimbledon Final: Nadal – Federer Betting Odds
Today is the most important date in the world of Tennis, it’s the Men’s Singles Final. As widely predicted, we see again current champion Roger Federer taking on Rafael Nadal.
Roger Federer has won Wimbledon for the past five times, and would really like to become a record breaker by winning his sixth consecutive game. Currently he ties with Bjorn Borg’s record of five consecutive wins at Wimbledon. If Federer manages to beat Nadal today, he will become the first man since the 1880s to win six consecutive Wimbledon Tournaments.
Rafael Nadal isn’t unknown when it comes to the final at Wimbledon. He too has made it there for the last two years, but has unmanaged to seat Federer, will today see this change?
Federer and Nadal have played against each other many times in the finals of major Tournaments. They have played each other in the finals of the last three French Open, where Nadal has beaten Federer each time. There have been 14 games where it has been a Federer-Nadal tournament final. Interestingly in the head to head series, Nadal is leading 11-6, however if you factor out the matches played on Clay, then Federer takes a 5-2 lead over Nadal, showing that Federer is far superior on grass courts, and Nadal favours the Clay.
With Federer’s history at Wimbledon, the bookies are favouring him for this game. He has the obvious advantage of grass and the added incentive of a record breaking title too. If you fancy a punt on Federer to win you will be joining the 55.2% of other people who are backing him. The best odds you can achieve at the moment is with Ladbrokes amongst others at 8/11.
However Nadal is not going to be a walk over, he too has a record title to go for. Having won the French Open, if he also wins today in the Wimbledon Final, he will be the first player to win both tournaments since Becker did in 1980. Sporting Bet are currently offering the best odds for Nadal to win at 6/5.
The betting exchanges Betdaq and Betfair are both offering odds of 0.78/1 in favour of Federer or 1.26/1 in favour of Nadal.
This is surely a game that will keep us on the edge of our seats, and no matter who you are backing, you are going to love this match. Watch it live on the BBC from 2pm (though it is anticipated there’ll be a rain delay).
